I remember way back in high school a in literature class and our lecturer will often ask "what are the traits of the character in the novel?". As soon as possible we start identifying the makeup of that character. And its quite interesting identifying the traits of characters you don't know just by reading the novel.
Traits are very essential in life. 'The traits you exhibit determines your rate in life'. Yes! Your personality projects your nationality. Our disposition matters especially in the situations we find ourselves.
Lets consider few examples from the Bible. Job has been discribed as a man of endurance because of his quality to withstand during his trials, David has been identified as a man after God's own heart because of his closer to God in worship, Paul has been noted of his great contributions to the spread of the gospel through persistence over resistance and now to the greatest man on earth, Christ Jesus! His traits are most stimulating to lots of people across the globe.
One of the traits Jesus exhibited on the cross that I want to talk about today is 'PATIENCE'. Patience means the capacity of waiting, enduring and persevering. Today most believers fade off from the zeal of endurance. Some give up too easily and others lose the confidence to hold on.
In Mark chapter 15, great unveil of patience is brought out by Christ. His trial before Pilate to the mockery by the soldiers and finally on the cross. Jesus could have come down from the cross as the people murmured and ridiculed him to save himself. He had all powers to himself. He could have performed a magic as the Pharisees rightly said but He didn't. His patience was for the glorious will of the Father to be done. "...Let thy will be done as it is in heaven..." we often pray this prayer but fail to endure for the perfect will of God. In as much as the people tortured and despised him, he knew his utmost goal was to die for them and nothing should stop that mission.
There are times in life that we need not to only have patience but also to implement and be glued to it. One of the greatest tool to win in life is patience. If you cannot endure, your ability to win is limited because your frame of success begins to poke on dubious means.
Today I pray patience be your conscience to win through the pestilence. No matter how difficult the race becomes, note that its not the one who runs faster but the one who finishes well. Jesus loves you and needs to you to be like him.
