My eyes are often filled with tears when I hear the song "He paid the debt, He did not owe. I owed a debt I could not pay". It echoes on my mind the pain Christ went through for my sake. Isaiah records "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our inequities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him...". Indeed whom the son set free is truly free indeed. Thank you, Jesus for the life of my brethren.
What am I driving at? Today I want to encourage that you have no debt to pay! You are debt free! Your past has nothing to do with you. You might have been stealing, lying, fighting, taking the lives of people, fornicating, mention them. Jesus says you are free! No chain is holding you. The bondage is broken, the old covenant is destroyed and buried and a new one has been born in Christ.
Remember, the devil is the accuser of the brethren. He will always put to remembrance your past. But resist satan as you submit to God and he will flee from you. Paul records leaving the past behind him and pressing on to the highest calling. Note that the suffering of this present time is not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed in us. The joy and reward ahead of us is greater than our pain today.
As mortals were are likely to fall victim to sin. Therefore let Christ be the greatest priority in fellowship. Grow your inner man, which is your spirit man by reading the bible, praying and practicing the word of God. You are free and truly free. God bless you and Jesus loves you.
